Phantom Horse Thief Century

PDX.BANKS.VERNONIA.SCAPPOOSE.PDX

January 5th, 8AM at 2329 NW 23rd Place

A 98 mile loop of a the valleys and hills northwest of Portland.  There is no support.  This is not a race, but a reasonable goal for all would be to get back before dark.  That gives folks about 8 hours.  It will probably be cold or wet.  There are services in all four towns spaced about 25 miles apart.

The ride will weave through the hill country of northwest Portland before heading across the valley into Banks.  From there it will follow the Banks Vernonia rail trail for 20 miles or so to Vernonia.  There's a subway and grocery.  After that a quick jaunt up Nehalem Highway 47 and then a turn off onto the Scappoose Vernonia Highway.  After the descent into Scappoose it's Highway 30 all the way back to Portland.  Hwy 30 has a reasonable shoulder in terms of width, however, it can contain a fair amount of debris so be advised.
